I found this china cabinet at an estate sale for a great price and it was too pretty to pass up. Later on a good friend was in need of a small china cabinet and everything she found was too big and/or too expensive. I new this china cabinet was perfect for her and with the right finish would be a stunning touch to finish off the dining room. After going over her style and color scheme I came up with some color options that she could choose from. It was a fun process working with her and seeing the refinished piece come to life.
We inherited a set of wingback chairs from my husband's grandparents. I wanted wingback chairs in our living room and was so excited to recover these chairs to match our decor. After looking through several fabric options and ordering a handful of swatches I narrowed it down to this teal velvet pattern. I added a copper nail head to the front of the arms that compliments the fabric perfectly. So far I've recovered one and will finish the other one once I've completed some other projects.
Vintage Bar Stools Revamp
I was in search of the perfect bar stools for our media room that I was decorating in an old Hollywood/art deco style. I stumbled upon these at the Roundtop Antique Fair last spring and fell in love with the iron detail. I knew I wanted to paint the metal gold and wanted a burgundy colored fabric for the seat. I finally decided upon this snake skin patterned fabric that gave some texture to the seat and popped against the gold metal. Nothing better than a girls movie night to motivate me to finish this project. They turned out great and worked perfectly in the space.
Antique Buffet Sideboard Project
I found this french style buffet sideboard at an estate sale in desperate need of some TLC. It had water stains on the wood and scuff marks everywhere but the bones were good. I decided to sand and stain the beautiful cherry colored wood on the top, drawers and accent piece on bottom. I painted the rest and added new hardware. It turned out amazing and was sold at the Roundtop Antique Fair a few months later.
Dining Table Set Upgrade
My sister had a dining table set that she wanted to paint and have the chairs reupholstered. She already new she wanted grey and white for the paint and I helped her pick a fabric that tied in with her dining room colors and style. She helped with the paint job and staple removal which she vowed to never do again but I was thankful for the help. It turned out great and looked amazing in her dining room.
Drexel Dresser Refinish
I got this drexel dresser at an estate sale and it had some stains, scuffs and chips on the wood. I stained the top and drawers and painted the rest to give it some contrast. I kept the original hardware since it was in such good shape.
French Provincial Dresser Upgrade
I was in search of a french provincial dresser to redo for my daughter's nursery as a changing table. I finally found one at an estate sale for a great price. I already knew I wanted to paint it coral. The colors in her nursery are coral, navy, peach and gold. I painted the details gold and put a shimmery translucent gold on the top and sealed it. It turned out great and looked perfect in her nursery.
Kids Dresser Makeover
This was my mother-in-law's dresser when she was little and had been handed down to us. I painted it to go in my oldest girls' nursery. Her colors were aqua and pink, so i decided to paint it white with aqua drawers. I salvaged the flower knobs from my husbands' grandparents' house when we renovated it. I replaced the knobs that had orginally been on it for those and they looked so feminine and perfect on her dresser.
Cane Chairs & Lamp Projects
Unfortunately I can't find any before pictures for either of these. They chairs were in bad shape. I bought them at an estate sale and they were scratched up and the upholstery was awful and stained. I decided to paint them white and put a bright colored fabric on the seat. I replaced almost everything (padding, foam, etc.) accept for the springs in the seat. They turned out amazing and were sold later at a shop I use to have a space in.
I bought the lamps at another estate sale and they were brass with the brown beaded glass. I painted the brass a duck egg blue and did a dark wax over it. I added some trim to the lamp shades for some detail. I sold these at the same store as the chair.
